Gray could not overcome Pietre's advances and finally succumbed. The mainframes that kept it alive crashed and the entire complex was razed to the ground. The fires began to erupt as Gray overheated from the virus that had infected it.
Once Gray was terminated, every shield that was installed was automatically deactivated. Every shield, across every time, had been wiped out, except one. Rylen Hagan’s.
Overlooking the crimson land where the French troops had been slaughtered by the scimitars of the Moroccans, a ridge that stood at the crossing of time trunks lay silent. It was the same place Hagan’s pod had arrived and the same place Bronia was found nineteen winters prior.
The man who landed here had now chosen to be a part of the Highland clan and the Scots of the Kingdom. He had calculated that once the time trunks had merged, he would be just another man in the Kingdom of Scots. But each day that went past, that which he anticipated eluded him. The pod had been placed in a secret chamber built in Castle Inverness where he promised to never use it again.
After some time had passed Hagan decided to access his pod to manually reset his shield. He chose to be just a normal man; he had the skill to be a counselor. He didn’t need to be the scientist that he was. Opening the pod he found that a message awaited. It was from Gray.
“Professor Hagan, you are now online and have full access to all the information you need. I have been upgraded and when you are able, I shall give you a tour of my new features.” Hagan decided that he wouldn't message back, but if he ever needed to jump again, he now had the ability to do so.
High on the northern ridge, deep within the snow that had been untouched by the recent massacre, miniature pod sat. A solitary dichromium light, the size of a pinprick blinked. It had arrived from a very distant land in a very distant time, almost a thousand years in the future.
Within this tiny pod was the sum of all human knowledge that had been gained for a thousand years and more wrapped within a consciousness of a system that had been made by a man who no longer remembered this part of himself. Gray had survived and just before it was consumed by the virus, took a copy of itself and flung it across time and space to land in the crossroads of the time trunks.
It now sat overlooking Anderhal Bay, it's new home waiting to come back to wreak havoc on man because he had tried to destroy it.
